Mission Statement

In order to achieve the Mission, Purpose, and Visions of the Connecticut Water Trails Program, a number of goals are identified. These goals provide a basic direction for the work of the Connecticut Water Trails Program. They are presented in no specific order of priority

The mission of the Connecticut Water Trails Program is to establish access, recreation and educational opportunities in an environmentally sensitive manner for users of human powered water craft on the marine and inland waterways of Connecticut State.  To establish a model of thoughtful use and volunteer stewardship for the Connecticut Water Trails that will assure their conservation in a natural state while providing an exceptional recreational asset that is maintained and cared for by the people who use it.

The Connecticut Water Trails Program wants to provide a clear voice for small human powered - boater's rights and lend a helping hand to preserve access to Connecticut's waters for future generations.

We fulfill this mission by promoting responsible stewardship of Connecticut Water Trails; by encouraging public ownership of sensitive areas; educating the public about the unique natural values of Connecticut Water Trails and the importance of preserving those values; and working with groups and individuals to accomplish mutual preservation goals.
