Vision Statement

 

The Connecticut Water Trails Program shall provide the organizational stewardship to develop and maintain the water trails of Connecticut as a quality natural resource.

People will experience the scenic beauty and learn about the environment and history of the various water trails in Connecticut.

Our Vision Explained

  • The Water Trails of Connecticut are a place apart, a place that retains their uniqueness, their unparalleled scenic beauty, their open spaces and vistas and their undisturbed natural areas.

  • The water trails of Connecticut should be considered is a national and worldwide treasure where the national interest in preserving its beauty takes precedence over individual economic interests, providing a spiritual respite from the commercialism and materialism of daily life.

  • The magnificent plant and animal diversity of the water trails of Connecticut will be preserved. Protecting important natural areas and wildlife corridors will ensure that all Connecticut species will prosper.

  • The Connecticut Water Trails cultural heritage will be cherished. They were home and trading center to Native Americans for thousands of years. In the past two centuries, it served as the route of pioneers.

  • The water trails of Connecticut are a place where resource-based recreational opportunities abound. We will initiate and support new parks and trails. We will promote the personal responsibility that must accompany increased recreational activity. We will work with various entities to promote land and water recreation.

  • The Connecticut Water Trails Program will pursue actions that will ensure that the beautiful of Connecticut Water Trails remains a place apart, an unspoiled treasure for generations to come.
