Naugatuck Avenue to Milford Point Road, turn right at the tennis courts onto Court Street. There is chain across the drive at times, but you can always walk in.

Barnum Avenue travel east over bridge 250 feet

Continue straight on Bridgeport Avenue travel 0.5 miles

RIGHT on Naugatuck Avenue (NO STREET SIGN as of AUGUST 2010) travel 0.6 miles

RIGHT on Milford Point Road travel 0.8 miles

RIGHT on Court Street travel 0.2 miles

Follow signs to Charles E Wheeler Wildlife Management Area

Site Description: 

Boat ramp at the bottom of Nells Island that is only useable at high and mid-tides so plan your trip carefully unless you enjoy getting stuck at low tide. There is chain across the drive at times, but you can always walk in.

Access from dirt parking area down short path to river. Drive down Court Street to end then down dirt road by sign for Charles E. Wheeler Wildlife Management Area DEP State of CT. This launch can only be used at high or mid-tide.
