Driving Directions

From the East: Take I-95 South to exit 34. Turn right onto Bridgeport Avenue for 0.4 miles. Make right onto Naugatuck Avenue. Continue and the Housatonic River State Boat Launch will be under the I-95 highway on your left.

From the West: Take I-95 North to exit 33. Stay on Ferry Boulevard for 0.5 miles. Turn slight right onto Barnum Avenue for 0.6 miles. Then make a left Naugatuck Avenue. Continue and the Housatonic River State Boat Launch will be under the I-95 highway on your left.

Regulations:

No person shall operate a motorboat in excess of Slow No Wake:

(A) When passing marinas, yacht clubs, fuel docks, anchorages and docks, boat launches and congested areas.

(B) Within the following specific areas:

The area bounded by a point five hundred feet upstream from navigation aid #4 and bounded southerly by a point five hundred feet downstream from navigation aid #3;

The channel east of Nells Island and all channels, creeks or waterways within the Charles E. Wheeler Wildlife Management Area, including Nells Island; 

The area bounded northerly by the Devon railroad bridge between Milford and Stratford and bounded southerly by navigation aid #14; and

The area bounded northerly by the northernmost tip of Wooster Island and bounded southerly by the southernmost tip of Wooster Island

Parts of the site offering views of the water are wheelchair accessible. Some facilities/uses listed may not be fully accessible to the mobility-impaired.

Site Description: 

Visitors can launch either a trailered or car-top boat at Housatonic River State Boat Launch. There is an access pier available at this site for fishing. To help you reach Housatonic River State Boat Launch, some routes leading to this site are posted with boat launch symbol signs.
