From the East:
Take I-95 South to exit 70. Turn left onto Lyme Street, follow until
reach Route 156. Turn left onto Route 156/Shore Road. Turn right onto
Smith Neck Road. Look for the sign at the curve in road and follow drive
until the end.
From the West:
Take I-95 North to exit 70. Turn right onto Route 156/Neck Road, follow
for 1.7 miles. Turn right onto Smith Neck Road. Look for the sign at the
curve in road and follow drive until the end. Directions Map:
CT Boating regulations state that speed limit within 250 feet of shore, a dock or mooring is steerage only as these are all no wake zones. Since the Back River (where the boat launch is located is only about 150 feet across, has moorings located from south of the boat launch every 120' to about 1/4 mi north of the launch and docks located from the launch all the way to the Lieutenant River, the entire area is a no wake zone.

provides access to the back river and Great Island with excellent bird
watching. There is a very small parking lot at this site. Signage is
provided at this site at driveway entrance. PLEASE NOTE: At low tide
there are only a few inches of water available at this site (and it is a
fair distance from the shore). Check tide tables before visiting Smith
Neck Town Landing to launch your car-top boat. Environment:
