Take Out: Same As The Put-In

On The Water: As you leave from the launch and enter Greenwich Cove. You'll paddle by several small islands as you make your way towards Long Island Sound.

Make sure you are heading towards the islands towards the west. They are Wee Captain Island, Little Captain Island and Captain Island.  You'll first pass Wee and Little Captain Island.  As you paddle further you'll see Captains Island with it's lighthouse which was built in 1869.

As you paddle along Captains Island's southern rocky shore - you'll see some boulders which will lead you to a lagoon behind the lighthouse. You'll need to be aware of the tide schedule to avoid fast moving water and rocks at low tide as well as a possible portage over some rocks.

Once you paddle past the southwestern tip of Great Captain Island - Bayville, New York is about 5.5 miles away across the sound. Continue your paddle around the western tip and pass beaches and reeds on your leeward side. From here you could paddle back to your Put-In or paddle over and explore Calf Island

Also make sure you know the closing times of the launch or marina you left from.

What You’ll See: Great Captain Island Light, Calf Island, Wee Captain Island, Little Captain Island, Field Point, Greenwich Cove, Greenwich Point, and Cos Cob Harbor
