the coast of Norwalk.
Located 300 yards to
the northeast of Chimon Island. Owned by Norwalk city government. Grassy
Island has a better boat landing area than Shea Island. Open to the
public May through Columbus Day.
Campers with permits can stay overnight at one of the four
camp sites.

Driving Directions:
From the East: Take I-95 South to exit 16 to East Norwalk and continue 0.14 miles. Keep left at the fork in the ramp. Turn left onto East Avenue and continue 0.49 miles. Turn right onto Van Zant Street/Route 136. Continue to follow Route 136 to Norwalk Harbor. This island is located in Norwalk Harbor and is accessible by private vessel only.
From the West: Take I-95 North to exit 14 to South Norwalk and continue 0.17 miles. Turn right onto Fairfield Avenue and continue 0.39 miles. Fairfield Avenue becomes West Washington Street and continue 0.38 miles. Turn right onto Water Street/Route 136 which leads to Norwalk Harbor. This island is located in Norwalk Harbor and is accessible by private vessel only.

Site Description:
The coastline of Grassy Island is mostly gravel and fine sand and
provides sheltered landing areas.
Overnight camping is allowed by a permit from the
City of Norwalk.
