Take Out: Same As The Put-In

On The Water:

After launching your kayak head south - down river. As you make your way towards the harbor you'll pass under the railroad bridge and a quiet rocky shoreline.

After a bend in the river you'll come up to Kitts island - only visible during low tide. Just after the island you'll hit the main channel and need to keep your eyes open for boats while crossing the channel.

Paddle past all of the moored sailboats until you reach Seymour Rock.  You can take a break from your paddling here  or continue on to Cockenoe Island.

It's 3/4' s of a mile to Cockenoe Island. You'll head into a small bay and then see a sandy beach where you can land. On your way back keep to the right of  Norwalk's Sprite Island and head back towards the mouth of the Saugatuck River.

What You’ll See: Cockenoe Island, Seymour Rock, Seymour Point, Cedar Point, Compo Beach, Bluff Point, Hendricks Point, and Kitts Island.

Cautions:

The section of the river below the bridge is affected by the tides and always passable during high and mid tide. You will be hindered by mudflats during low tide.
