On The Water:

The Ashley Falls put in is on the northeast side of the road at a guardrail you'll  have to climb over, then head down about 100 feet to the put-in.

You'll head down river and pass under the Route 7A bridge and then the Springfield Railroad Bridge. To avoid the rocks here stay to the right as you head under this bridge.

The river from this point flows through the suburban countryside for about a mile until you pass under the Cooper Hill Road Bridge. The next couple of miles are easy going.

The Blackberry River enters into the Housatonic on the left - marked by several small islands at 4 miles into your paddle. A short distance after this confluence you'll see an old stone bridge abutment in the middle of the river.

A 1/4 mile past this you'll encounter the old Canaan Dam. You'll need to portage around this dam on the left side along a visible path in the woods. Once you put in again it's about a mile downstream the left bank of the river is built up for the next 1.5 miles until you pass under the US Route 44 Bridge.

The river then travels for the next mile with some sharp turns before flowing straight again. Where the Hollenbeck River comes in from the left side merging with the Housatonic your within a mile of the take out. The river takes a turn to the right and you should paddle close to the right bank from this point forward to the take out.

The take out is a small beach and boat ramp on your right just before the Falls Village Dam and Falls.
