Driving Directions:

Exit 34 off I-95 turn West onto Bridgeport Ave. Drive .4 miles and turn Left onto Naugatuck Ave. Follow for approx. .5 miles Turn Right onto Milford Point Road. Turn Right onto Court Street. Follow Court street until it ends. Follow the dirt road at the end of Court Street to the parking area.

On the Water:

You must launch within 90 minutes of high tide in order to paddle this area. You launch from Deerwood Ave, Milford. From here you'll have direct access to the salt marsh.

There are many areas to explore such as the Connecticut Audubon Coastal Center

You can also explore Beaver Brook

The salt marsh eventually enters into the mouth of the Housatonic River.

A number of wide and long channels, each with several side channels which enter the marsh which extends a mile in both the north-south and east-west directions.

To find out the tide schedule go to: Maine Harbors then click on either the Connecticut E or Connecticut W in the left menu bar. Then click on Milford Harbor and the month you are paddling in.

Cautions:

Many of the passages in this salt marsh lead into dead ends.

Use shoreline landmarks to navigate the marsh.
