On The Water:

The shoreline along Rocky Neck State Park has high rocky bluffs.  You are not able to launch from the park itself but must go to the Four Mile River State Boat Launch.  Overlooking the river is a ledge which provided shelter for those who supported the British during the Revolutionary War named Tony's Nose.

If you paddle upstream from the launch you'll enter some wetlands and will discover that the river is a short paddle.

If you turn to the left and paddle south after launching you'll pass under a railroad bridge. Depending on the tide, the water under the bridge may be choppy and either slow down your progress or push you along into Long Island Sound.

Once you enter the open waters paddle around Lands End Point and head east along Rocky Neck's beach.  Beware of fisherman fishing off the jetty and make sure stay out of marked swimming area's.

A short distance away is Griswold Island and Watts Island as well as some other smaller rock outcroppings all located in the cove of the Pattagansett River. The waters here are relatively calm thanks to Black Point Peninsula which protects the waters. There are a lot of area's to explore along this shoreline.

On the other side of Black Point is Niantic Bay and Millstone Nuclear Power Plant.

Less than a half mile south of the shoreline and Lands Point are North and South Brothers

What You’ll See: Fourmile River, Hatchett Point, Rocky Neck State Park, North Brother, South Brother, Huntley Island, Giant's Neck,  Pattagansett River, Watts Island, Griswold Island, and Black Point
