On The Water:

The first put in is at the Fitchville Dam. The second possible put in is at Yantic River Park picnic area on Stockhouse Road.

If you put in at the dam you'll travel through a 1/2 mile of ripples before you reach the Yantic River Park picnic area. You'll then flow through some quickwater before the river calms down.

A mile into a trip you'll come to the first dam you'll need to portage on the left hand side. A mile of flatwater will follow after the dam before you'll pass under a railroad bridge and then Connecticut Route 32 bridge.

A short while after the bridge you'll hit Class I waters which you'll travel on until you take a turn into another section of flatwater and then the current speeds up again until you pass under your next bridge and flows into a flatwater section.

The river continues until it makes a wide turn to the left over the next 1/4 mile and passes under your next bridge. Then your taken to the right into a Class II section of the river. You'll pass through some challenging sections before you come up to your next bridge where the current will pick up speed.

You'll hit an S curve with some challenging currents as you pass beneath I-395. The take out is after the next bridge on your left by a parking lot.
