On The Water:

Start on the Natchaug River at Lauter Park off of Connecticut Route 195 in Willimantic. The Shetucket begins at end of the Willimantic River at 1.5 miles in. The Connecticut Route 203 Bridge in South Windham offers a nice takeout at 4.75 miles in.  At 8 miles in you’ll need to portage the Scotland Dam on the right – STAY AWAY FROM THE DAM !!!

Water level below the dam is controlled by the dam. Expect to scarp the bottom every once in awhile as you head to Baltic – and a possible carry if the dam is closed.

You can take out 100 yards below the dam on the left by carrying across the railroad track at Jerusalem Road, There are another two at North Main Street (Connecticut Route 97 bridge) , Sprague or Park Drive, Sprague
