On The Water:

The Jeremy River is much more challenging then the Blackledge River and contains continuous Class II & II+ rapids. Most of the rapids are composed of standing waves and lots of rocks. Higher water levels are needed to paddle this river because of how steep it is and the rocks. The river gauge should be at 4 feet.

The put in is off of Old Route 2, about ½ mile east of Exit 16.

The river here travel for.3 miles until you pass the Connecticut Route 2 bridge. The river then makes a sharp turn right and Meadow Brook joins it coming in from the left side.

The river then flows parallel to the highway before turning left and entering rapids. The rapids are Class II & II+ over the next mile until you reach the dam at North Westchester. You’ll need to portage on the right near a small iron bridge – above the Connecticut Route 149 bridge – carrying across the road and putting in below the Connecticut Route 149 bridge.

The rapids start again immediately and continue past a right turn and small ledge on the left. You then enter into the Blackledge River.

Across from where you enter the Blackledge River is Salmon River Road - in (Salmon River State Forest) a dirt road extension off of Comstock Bridge Road, Colchester - this is where you can take out or turn right and paddled up the Blackledge River to River Road. Or you turn left and take out at the Comstock Bridge at Comstock Bridge & Browns Mill Road , East Hampton
