Description:

To reach the put in take Carpenter Road to Dings Road off of US 202 in New Hartford. The river crosses Carpenter Road and US 202 several times.

The river wanders along and crosses US 202 at an easy rapid – at .25 mile. Below the crossing is another Class II section, ending just before the US202 bridge. The rest of the river is Class I.

The river rises in New Hartford and flows east through Tunxis State Forest into the Nepaug Reservoir. Above Connecticut Route 219 the water is shallow, steep and full of blow downs.

The river is runnable from Dings Road to the last US202 bridge above the Nepaug Reservoir.
