Driving Directions

From Route 128, Covered Bridge, West Cornwall, CT:

Route 128 East travel 500 feet

LEFT on River Road travel 2.5 miles

Dirt road – cross railroad tracks 4 times

Launch on left just south of #328 River Road

Launch Info:

Park in the dirt pull off on River Road approximately 2.5 miles from the Covered Bridge. You will have crossed the railroad tracks four times. This is a river exit for those who do not want to attempt the Push ʻEm Up Rapids just downstream. As a launch site, be prepared for two sets of rapids then a third as you reach the Covered Bridge in West Cornwall. You can scout the river from Route 7 and from River Road before setting out.

From Housatonic Meadows State Park, Cornwall Bridge, CT:

Route 7 North travel 3.8 miles

RIGHT on Route 128 East over Covered Bridge

Launch Info :

Access is upstream of covered bridge on east side. Follow signs for parking. Rapids are immediately downstream under the bridge. To avoid rapids here, portage on the east side (left) of the river from upstream launch. Cross to downstream side of the bridge for access below rapids.

From River Road, Cornwall Bridge, CT:

River Road travel east 1.5 miles

RIGHT on Route 7 North travel 0.3 miles

Launch Info:

Entrance across from Housatonic Meadows Fly Shop. Follow paved road RIGHT through short stone pillars (river will be on your left). Follow to end at parking and launch area. Use upstream launch with “Non-Rental Canoe” sign to left. RAPIDS downstream at Old Swifts Bridge.

From Route 341 Bridge, Kent, CT:

Route 341 East travel 0.3 miles

LEFT on Route 7 North travel 9.3 miles

RIGHT on River Road (after church, turn RIGHT at Dead End sign) travel 1.5 miles

Launch Info:

Park along River Road on the west side of the river where the road forks. There are several dirt pull offs. The path to the river is steep and rocky. If you are exiting the river here, take care to avoid big boulders and the rapids at the remnants of Swifts Bridge. If you are entering the river here, you may want to explore your options slightly downstream of the rapids.
