Basic Information:

Though small, Messerschmidt Pond offers an opportunity for a wonderful morning of paddling. Lying wholly within Messerschmidt Wildlife Management Area. Nice 82-acre pond, that’s extremely clean and offers a good couple hours of paddling.

Driving Directions:

From I-95: Take Exit 64, Horse Hill Road off I-95. Head North on Route 145 for 3 miles on right is state car top boat launch.

From Route 9: Take Exit 5 and go west on Route 80 for 3.7 miles this connects with Route 145 (Stevenstown Road) for 1.3 miles. Then 145 Splits and you want the South Route. Not too far and its on the Left.

On The Water:

This is a small pond and a great paddle. The pond lies within the Messerschmidt Wildlife Management Area. the pond is formed by an earthen dam Messerschmidt Pond Dam at it's southern end.

It takes longer to paddle to pond than it's small size might suggest because of its coves, large islands, and peninsulas.
