Basic Information:

Hopeville Pond, a widened 3-mile section of the Pachaug River, offers very pleasant, relaxing paddling. Its shores include Hopeville Pond State Park, the site of a former waterpower-driven woolen mill

Driving Directions:

Off I-395: take Exit 86

From the North: take a left off the exit.

From the South: take a right off the exit.

Follow Hopeville Road or the park signs until the (Y) intersection. Proceed to the right. The Hopeville Pond State Park entrance is a ½ mile to the right, off Route 201.

Take Out: Same As The Put-In

On The Water: Hopeville Pond is a 3 mile section of the Pachuag River created and widened by Hopeville Pond Dam. The pond is next to Pachaug State Forest.

The shallow pond winds from the dam at the north to the south end of the pond. 

You can paddle upstream at the Pachuag River to Patchaug Pond and Glasgo Pond by portaging over the Hopeville Pond Dam.

Site History:

Hopeville Pond is the site of a former water-powered-driven woolen mill. The government purchased the land in 1930, and the CCC - Civilian Conservation Corps managed in until 1955 when it turned it over to the state.
