Stewardship

The dictionary definition of stewardship is “the careful and responsible management of something entrusted to one’s care.”

Trash & Blockage Removal

The stewardship of Connecticut’s Water Trails is one of the pillars of our mission and serves as our primary guiding principle on the Connecticut Water Trails Association.

Blockage Removal

Each water trail in Connecticut has stewardship needs and it is only through volunteer leadership and support that these needs are able to be met. By volunteering you help ensure exceptional management of these places which have been entrusted to our care.

Blockage Removal

Stewardship services could consist of monitoring the use and environmental conditions of Connecticut Water Trails, performing water trail cleanups and work projects, maintaining infrastructure such as signs and facilities, and reporting any problems such as blockages or illegal dumping.

Why Volunteer To Help Maintain Water Trails?

Here are some reasons why you should become involved with water trails.

It feels good to give a little back. You will not just be a trail user but an "owner" when you are done.

You get to meet new people who share your interests.

There are actually skills involved in doing trail work and you get to learn them for free.

You are helping to promote a positive image of paddlers.
