Eagleville Pond was created to store the river's water and provide a reliable source of water power to the former Eagleville Mill, which was located on the Mansfield side next to the dam. Now it is a popular recreation area. The dam's curtain of whitewater and scenic views of the lake make this a refreshing spot to relax and enjoy the views. The lake offers flat-water paddling on open water, but wind can be a factor. Stay close to the west shore and be careful to avoid the dam, which is marked with buoys. The upper end of the lake offers meandering channels between low-lying islands. This area offers good opportunities to watch wildlife. Fishing for warm-water fish, such as large-mouth bass, is available either from a boat or from the Mansfield side of the dam.
