Seventh Annual Still River Clean-Up

 

To date the Still River Cleanup Has Collected:

 

148,000 pounds of trash

 

 

300 Tires

 

Filled - Fourteen 10 Yard Dumpsters

 

The Seventh Annual Sti1l River Cleanup in Brookfield covered 6 miles of the river – filled a ten yard and 20 yard dumpster with trash, filled over700 trash bags with trash, collected 35 tires and other large objects.

 

The event was sponsored by The Still River Alliance, The Housatonic Valley River Trail, King’s Mark USDA, The Keep America Beautiful Campaign, American Rivers, Housatonic Valley Association, and Connecticut Water Trails Association.

 

We would also like to thank the following for supporting and donating to the cleanup: The Steiner’s and Berkshire Corporation (for use of the Larsen’s Farm Property), The Mountain Workshop (for providing transportation, canoes, paddles, and PFD’s), Mel Powers and Powers Construction ( for supplying the tent and porto-potties) , Doug Hempstead and Stew Leonard’s of Danbury (for supplying lunch and supplying a dumpster), Dave Dunleavy and Winters Brothers Waste Systems ( for supplying the dumpster), Firestone Tire Railroad Place Danbury (for taking the tires we collected), Veolia Water (for supplying breakfast), Costco and Walmart (for supplying part of our lunch), and Starbucks of Brookfield for supplying coffee and hot cocoa).

 

Also the following groups for coming out: The Housatonic Valley Paddle Club, Employees from Veolia Water, New Fairfield Venturing Cew 242, and New Milford Youth Counseling.

Schmidt Field is more commonly known as the Corn Field is right before the Farm Market

From I-84 West:

Take I-84 West to Exit 9 (Hawleyville)

At end of ramp turn right onto Route 25.

Follow for approximately 3.5 miles.

At the first light, turn left onto Route 133/Junction Road.

At the 3-way stop sign, turn right to continue on Route 133/Junction Road

The farm market is approximately 0.5 mile ahead on the right.

 

From I-84 East:

Take I-84 East to Exit 7 (Route 7/Brookfield/New Milford)

Follow Route 7 approximately 4.5 miles to Exit 12.

At the light at the end of ramp turn left onto Route 202/Federal Road.

Follow for approx. 1.5 miles and turn left onto Junction Road.

The farm market is just ahead on your left.
