Longitude  72° 4'53.12"W   Latitude 41°46'35.06"N

Take Out: Same As Above

On The Water: This pond has a lot of aquatic vegetation unlike nearby Mansfield Hollow Lake.  The Natchaug Hiking Trail runs along the southern section of the lake.

The farther north you paddle on the lake - the more difficult it gets as the open water becomes a swamp.

Cautions: Watch out for stumps left in the lake from the flooding of 1933

Site History:

This is a man made lake which was originally a cedar swamp. The Atlantic white cedars were sawn into railroad ties, posts, and shingles by loggers in the winter and then drawn across the frozen swamp by horses.

The 1,800 acre James L. Goodwin State Forest surrounds Pine Acres lake.
